Revolutionising Conventional Carpet Cleaning – Cleaning without using moist
Singapore (June 16, 2006) – Cleaning of carpet need not use the conventional moist and chemical shampoo method anymore to produce effectively cleaned and hygienic carpet.
Carpet Cleaner dry carpet cleaning system, a leading Austrian carpet cleaning system manufacturer, has made a debut in Singapore’s commercial and residential market since the systems are imported and operated through a local distributor, De Hygienique (Asia) Pte Ltd, in 2004.
The dry carpet cleaning system TM 4 brushing machine from Carpet Cleaner GmbH uses counter-rotating carpet brushing machine together with sponge-like moistened natural biodegradable cleaning compound or Crystal Cleaner (Encapsulation).
The TM 4 evenly distributes dry cleaning compound or the Crystal Cleaner and brushes them into the carpet fibres, and then recovers the residues containing the absorbed soil with the company’s patented RENOVATOR TECHNOLOGY.
The Carpet Cleaner compound consists of renewable natural products, is free of phosphates and ph-neutral that comes with biodegradable active agents.
The Crystal Cleaner ENCAPSULATION product is a liquid cleaning agent mixed with polymers. When brushed into the carpet with the TM 4, the soil will be loosened, encapsulated in microscopically small crystals and will be recovered from the carpet with the RENOVATOR.

The conventional carpet cleaning methods like water extraction, chemical shampooing or steam carpet cleaning have been the most commonly used carpet cleaning methods in the market for many decades. Able to produce relatively good cleaning results, these conventional cleaning methods however are found to leave behind some longer-term detrimental effects to the carpet fibres.
Besides long drying time and leaving behind chemical residues on the carpet fibre like tenside, wet cleaning system has been blamed to cause rapid resoiling of carpet and matting down of the carpet fibres according to Milliken Carpet website (millikencarpeteurope.com).
Due to long drying time of up to 48 hours, wet cleaning methods are likely to cause shrinking of carpet and leave relatively high moisture levels within the carpet fibre, which can potentially generate the growth of mould, bacteria, dust mites or other biological organisms.
On 19th June, for the first time since the system was brought into Singapore, De Hygienique will organize a private viewing of the system to the carpet industries. Representatives of the various carpet industries would get the chance to view and experience this dry cleaning system and to compare cleaning result with conventional cleaning methods.
