Singapore, 20 May 2009 – Taking medical leave to escape work is common. Ironic enough, these days, employees are showing up for work despite being ill. According to the 2009 Workplace Survey released recently, 61 per cent of workers return to work even when they are sick because they fear losing their jobs. This result is the highest among more than 6,000 polled in 20 countries.

With the dark clouds of recession looming and rising concerns over job security, employees are striving to stay productive in order to stay off the strike list. Coupled with the surge in H1N1 flu cases around the world and its potential of exploding into a full pandemic, there is an increasing emphasis on the need to keep our indoor environment clean and hygienic to keep healthy and productive.

Most people have the misconception that regular cleaning and vacuuming are sufficient to rid the home of harmful allergens. Research shows that the mattress we spend a good eight hours a day on, is one of the dirtiest furniture in your home. It contains dust, mites and their faeces, dead skin flakes and bacteria – all deeply embedded. These harmful allergens can trigger allergy problems like eczema, sinusitis and asthma.

Dry-clean Your Mattress

No, we are not suggesting that you lug it to the drycleaners. Unlike conventional steam or chemical cleaning methods that might potentially damage the mattress or leave behind chemical residue, De Hygienique uses a 100 per cent dry treatment with the Potema® Mattress Cleaning System.

Easy 3-Step Cleaning

The cleaning process involves 3 steps:

1. Pulverisation – Stubborn particles and micro-organism are dislodged and powdered into fine particles.
2. Extraction – The finely pulverised dirt is completely drawn out.
3. Sanitisation – Mattress is treated with an in-built germicidal UV-C light to eliminate bacteria, mould, germs and other harmful particles. A patented Potema® Sanitising Spray (made of citrus oil and alcohol) is used to disinfect the mattress and inhibit the growth of dust mites.
