Debunking 4 Myths About Office Carpet Cleaning

When it comes to office carpet cleaning, there are many unfounded opinions that should be addressed to prevent wrong carpet maintenance practices.

Here are 4 myths that carpet owners should read to better understand carpet cleaning requirements.

1. Office carpet cleanings cost more expensive than residential carpet.

Carpet cleaning costs are usually determined by the floor area, carpet material, and soiling conditions. So, it does not necessarily mean office carpet cleaning always costs more than residential carpet.

Residential carpet is typically smaller in size than office carpet. So, cleaning a residential carpet may be less expensive than cleaning a large office carpet.

However, unlike commercial carpets, residential carpets are often more delicate because they can be made of finer material. Professional carpet cleaners would need to spend more time carefully cleaning the carpet. Thus, the carpet cleaning cost per square foot for a residential carpet could likely be more expensive than commercial carpet.

2. Office carpets should be vacuumed more frequently than residential carpets.

It is natural to think office carpets require more frequent vacuuming than residential carpets.

Because the common perception is that office carpets receive more foot traffic than residential carpets, which can lead to increased dust and dirt accumulation. Thus, naturally, the impression is that office carpets should be vacuumed very frequently.

This common myth is, unfortunately, not accurate.

The frequency of carpet vacuuming does not solely depend on how many people walk on the carpets. How often a carpet should be vacuumed also depends on where the carpet is placed, how the carpet is used, and who uses the carpet.

If there are family members with allergies to dust and dust mites living in a carpeted home, the residential carpet should be vacuumed very frequently. This minimizes embedded fine dust and dust mites trapped within the carpet pile.

3. Residential carpet cleaners clean more thoroughly than office carpet cleaning specialists.

To conclude that residential carpet cleaners are more detailed than office carpet cleaning specialists because the latter are more experienced in cleaning extensive carpeted areas is wrong.

Professional carpet cleaners will thoroughly clean your carpets, regardless yours is an office or residential carpet. There should not be any different cleaning standards between residential and office carpets.

The carpet cleaning process for residential carpets may seem more detailed than commercial ones, often because of the difference in carpet material

Homeowners commonly purchase beautiful fine wool carpets, which require more careful cleaning than synthetic materials like nylon, commonly used for office carpets. Thus more time is needed to ensure the delicate carpet fibers are cleaned efficiently.

Office carpets are typically larger, and soiling conditions can differ depending on foot traffic. As a result, skilled office carpet cleaners will determine which areas of the carpet may require more attention.

The carpet in the office reception area, for example, is usually the dirtiest due to the high traffic in this area. On the other hand, carpets in less frequently used conference rooms are typically cleaner and necessitate fewer cleaning cycles.

4. Office carpets last longer than home carpets.

Many people believe that office carpets outlast household carpets. However, this is not always the case. The way carpets are used and maintained determines their longevity.

Floor rugs, for example, which is common in living rooms and office entrances, are more delicate and easily damaged than wall-to-wall carpets. Pets may chew the rug, and mopping the floor with floor detergent may cause damage.

In contrast, typical office carpets have thick rubber backings that are adhered to the floor with a strong adhesive. They are usually made of synthetic materials that can withstand heavy foot traffic.

This does not mean that office carpets will outlast home carpets. If office carpets are not well maintained and are not vacuumed and cleaned regularly, they can become damaged over time.

Whatever impression you have about office carpets, a general rule for having a carpet in an office is to ensure it is kept clean and well maintained at all times.

Office carpet adds an elegant appearance to your space, but it also provides adequate insulation from the cold and reduces noise pollution. Regular maintenance prevents your lovely carpet from becoming a haven for dust, dirt, and allergens.
