Top 3 Ways To Keep Office Carpet Clean

Keeping the office carpet clean is an important step to prolong its lifespan. Carpets are popular office flooring choices for a variety of purposes. This ranges from aesthetics to function.

It is important to keep carpets clean, especially in an office setting where traffic is generally much higher than in homes. Besides being aesthetically pleasing, carpets also act as filters for pollutants and allergens, which include dust mites, mold spores, dirt, and dust.

Here are 3 ways you can keep your office carpets clean

1. Clean Spillages Immediately

Spillages should be cleaned immediately as it tends to be harder to remove the longer it stays on the carpet. Here are some steps you can take when removing spillages on your carpets.

Step 1: Start by cleaning spillages on carpets by removing any solid debris.

Step 2: Utilise pieces of kitchen towels (or tissue paper) and place them on top of the spill. Put pressure to absorb excess fluid from the carpet. Do not wipe or rub, as this might cause the stain to spread. Repeat this step until no more fluid can be removed.

Step 3: Take a clean white cloth and blot the stain with cold water from the outer edge towards the center of the spill. Should this not work, mix a teaspoon of mild detergent with a cup of warm water. Dip the clean white cloth in it and blot till stains are removed.

Step 4: When stains are no longer visible, pat the wet area with kitchen towels once again till no fluid is absorbed on the tissue. If you have a hair dryer – use it to dry the damp carpet.

2. Vacuum Regularly

One of the basic maintenance of office carpets would be through vacuuming. A general rule of thumb would be to clean surfaces at least once a week. However, as offices tend to have heavier footfall and traffic, here are our recommendations:

  • Vacuum daily in areas with high traffic or pets.
  • Vacuum two times a week in medium-traffic areas.
  • Vacuum weekly for carpet spaces with light levels of traffic.

3. Hire Professional Help To Keep Carpets Clean And Keep Their Quality
